My name is Ellie, I’m 22 and I work full time. The moment I get home from work I put my laptop on and headphones in until I decide to go to bed. Writing, photography and music are my favourite things in life, which is why I love writing this blog. I’m going to give you a little background story now, so please enjoy this page and reach out to me; I’m here every night with my headphones in.
I got my first passport aged 17, for some this would be unheard of. The only holidays I had ever been on involved travelling hours packed in the back of a Citroen Picasso with my three brothers. Although they are some of my fondest childhood memories, it was anything but glamorous. So when I met my boyfriend in 2014 who was an avid traveller and geography graduate, I knew I was about to see the world.
My first time on an aeroplane was a present for my 20th birthday; a two-day trip to Amsterdam. Having absolutely no idea what to expect, I was extremely nervous in such a different environment and didn’t feel a hundred percent comfortable. It wasn’t until my fifth time on an aeroplane that I truly felt excited; I had caught the travel bug.
There is such an incredible feeling when travelling somewhere brand new; experiencing new food, new environments and meeting new people. The prospect of being completely anonymous to those around you; wearing whatever you want to wear, taking that photo you want to take, and being whoever you want to be. Realising just how big the world around you is, outside of the semi-detached house in England that’s all you’ve ever known. It’s addictive, isn’t it?
So this blog will be a documentation of the trips I am lucky enough to take, from the perspective of someone who is only just getting started. As I sit on the plane with my headphones in and Oasis beginning to play, it’s like Spotify has read my thoughts; “slip inside the eye of your mind….”
