A walk through Ampthill Park

This Saturday Lewis and I decided to have a stroll through Ampthill Park, a beautiful place that’s also full of history. Ampthill Castle, which is located within the grounds of the park once belonged to Henry VIII and he would regularly reside there. In addition, Katherine of Aragon lived in the castle for a year whilst her marriage to Henry was annulled. The castle was designed by celebrated landscape architect Capability Brown and has amazing viewpoints, wildlife and a small lake.

The park has Café facilities, a children’s play park and tennis courts; I was really impressed with the facilities considering entry is completely free! You can choose your trail to walk and off you go up the hill. I’m really pleased with how these photos turned out as it was a particularly overcast day, but the greenery has really beamed through.

We passed these rabbit holes on our way round, and even got a glimpse of a little grey rabbit when we got to the lake.

This is the lake viewpoint, you can see Ampthill Castle just beyond the lake.

These cute little blue flowers were everywhere.

Once we struggled down the hill we came to the edge of the lake, it was very pretty and tranquil.

This one was the bravest, coming right over to the gate to say hello.

After we had finished walking around the fields, you could walk through the forest to get back to the start of the trail. The surroundings were beautiful, the trees were so tall and there were bees buzzing around.

Possibly my favourite photo I took just because I love how the colours are so rich.

Hope everybody had a nice weekend, let me know what you got up to.
